Excerpts from the Eulogy for Ryan
By Coach David Green There is much love here in this room. We truly are amongst friends. Look around this room, Ryan has affected every one of us here. Ryan was born in Fullerton. His mom and dad raised him right here in Yorba Linda. Ryan, along with his younger brother Chris completed the Bousquet Family. There’s a lot of love in the Bousquet home. Ryan learned from his parents about giving and receiving affection. Ryan never argued against the notion that he was “a momma’s boy.” “Of course, I’m a momma’s boy,” he’d say. “I love my mom! She would do anything for me.”Looking through pictures of the Bousquest Family, Dad is seen with his arms around his son all the while Ryan beams that soon to be notorious smile. And his smile…More than likely I never told him so, but you all know as I know…that kid was handsome. So what does a kid do with all that love? Well he was brave. He dared and he dared others to dare him. And you know what? It worked. Even if we tried not to, It was hard not to get caught up in his energy. Ryan dared to dream. Ryan dared to love. Ryan dared to say what was on his mind, and as we all sit here thinking of him now, we loved it. Sometimes we could do without we could do without the saying what was on his mind part, but the guy was brave, that’s for certain. Those that knew him well would know that Ryan was a neat freak.”Everything had a place and there was a place for everything.” He made his bed every day, his 8-10 pairs of shoes were just so, his closet was organized and clean from clutter. And on the subject of clothes and “accessories,” Ryan prided himself on his wardrobe. Ryan had watches, rings, and stuff that went in his face, tattoos, etc. Ryan even plucked his eyebrows. Hey it’s no secret; he wouldn’t have been embarrassed to tell you. Ryan loved animals. You know the noises or sounds people make with their pets when no one is around? Ryan, in front of others or even total strangers, would get down on his knees, to the dog’s level and use that voice with no hint of embarrassment. Well, I know my dog fell in love with Ryan. I know this because since Ryan has not been home, Jackie-Sue, my dog, pooped in his room. She’s mad at him and wants him to come home. Ryan’s real allure was his energy. The guy would get so happy about life, and when Ryan was excited, you all know it was hard not to get excited too. Ryan’s ability to motivate was readily apparent when he coached. He truly loved it. Helping others became his passion. While working with his team, he began to think about a career in education. He specifically talked about special education. Ryan’s impact on the boys he coached will not be his times in the mile or hi split for 400m. Ryan taught these boys about life. Ryan’s lessons about himself, being tolerant, persevering, responsibility, respect and redemption are not are not lost on these boys. The legacy of Ryan Bousquet will be the boys themselves he has mentored. As each boy grows, they will understand more and more the impact a coach like Ryan has had on them. It’s impossible to describe Ryan with words alone. Ryan’s friend, Sabour Amirazodi put together a visual for us today. I know Sabour’s work here demonstrates his love for his friend. I watched him scrutinize over every clip. I feel that through Sabour’s careful work and our thought of Ryan. Together we can feel Ryan’s free spirit again, one more time.
